The SFPA is seeking a Cloud (Azure) and Digital Applications Specialist to join its established ICT Unit and play a key role in its ongoing digital transformation.


Working directly with the Executive Manager of ICT, the successful candidate will combine Microsoft Azure and Power Platform expertise with cloud governance, vendor management, cyber security and digital project delivery. The role acts as a technical bridge between operational teams and external technology partners, helping ensure the SFPA's digital environments are secure, efficient and aligned with business requirements.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the administration, governance and expansion of the Microsoft Azure environment.
  • Administer and develop the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Dataverse and Power Automate.
  • Support SaaS applications and cloud-based digital solutions.
  • Coordinate UAT, releases, system upgrades and change implementation.
  • Manage and oversee application lifecycles.
  • Act as a key technical contact for external ICT vendors.
  • Monitor supplier performance, contracts, SLAs and development roadmaps.
  • Oversee APIs, system integrations and data flows between platforms. 
  • Help maintain secure Azure and cloud environments in line with cyber-security best practice.
  • Identify and manage ICT risks relating to data protection, resilience, third-party access and system dependencies.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Provide technical leadership on digital projects.
  • Contribute to ICT procurement, RFT specifications and tender evaluations.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and digital process improvement


About The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum Level 7 NFQ qualification in a relevant area with an ICT component.
  • At least 3 years' directly relevant ICT experience.
  • Hands-on experience managing or overseeing a Microsoft Azure tenant.
  • Experience with Power Apps, Dataverse, Power Automate and SaaS solutions.
  • Experience with application lifecycle management, UAT, releases and system upgrades.
  • Practical knowledge of APIs, integrations and data exchange.
  • Knowledge of cloud cyber security, including identity management, access controls and secure Azure/SaaS configuration.
  • Experience identifying and managing ICT risks.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and requirements-gathering experience.
  • Experience providing technical leadership on digital projects.
  • Experience with vendors, ICT procurement and SLAs. 
  • Candidates must also hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for occasional business travel. 


Desirable Experience

Public sector ICT experience, Azure/Microsoft expertise, digital transformation or cyber security knowledge, and relevant project management or Microsoft certifications. For a comprehensive list of the essential and desirable criteria please consult the candidate booklet.
