Who are the Medical Council?


The Medical Council serves as the regulatory body for doctors in Ireland and maintains the Register of Medical Practitioners, which includes all licensed physicians authorised to practice medicine in the country.


 Additionally, the Medical Council establishes the standards for medical education and training in Ireland. It monitors ongoing learning and skill enhancement throughout doctors’ careers by enforcing professional competence requirements. The Council is dedicated to fostering good medical practices and provides a platform for the public to lodge complaints against physicians.
