About the Role
We have an opening for an Inspector Grade III level within our Chemical regulatory and Competent Authority mandate. The role involves monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Chemicals Acts and relevant EU chemicals legislation, including participation in and support of EU wide enforcement and chemical products market surveillance campaigns. The Inspector will be working as part of a dynamic team and contributing to the performance of Competent Authority functions under EU Regulations. This role may also require some EU travel.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of key accountabilities that are typically allocated, but are not limited to, the role:
Key Responsibilities
- Contributing to the Authorities Competent Authority chemical inspection related functions
- Carrying out and recording inspections and product assessments up to and including enforcement action and the issuing of enforcement notices as appropriate
- Undertaking risk assessments for high hazard chemical products
- Ensuring the accurate and timely entering of information and data onto the relevant information technology platforms
- Developing, maintaining and providing technical expertise related to chemicals regulated by the Authority
- Participation in European activities of the European Chemical Agency’s Forum on Enforcement
- Supporting awareness raising activities, engaging with relevant stakeholders and representing the Authority at meetings with stakeholders
- Contributing to the development of guidance, policy and procedures
- Researching technical queries to support the activities including responding to queries to the Authority’s Chemical Helpdesk and contact centre
- Participation in team meetings and contributing to development of policies and procedures activities when required
Essential Requirements
The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate they meet the competencies as set out in the Appendix and also the following essential requirements:
- Primary degree (NFQ level 8 or equivalent) in Science, engineering or other appropriate qualification relevant to the role
- Minimum of two years relevant experience in a regulatory, industry or a post graduate setting
- Possession of a full driving licence (Category B).
Desirable Requirements
In addition to the above essential requirements, it would be a decided advantage for candidates to have:
- Inspection experience or familiarity with chemical and/or product regulation
Successful candidates will be placed on a panel from which appointments will be made. Vacancies will be offered to candidates placed on the relevant panel based on the order of merit from the interview process. Any panel formed as part of this campaign, will expire 12 months from its establishment.
