Role Summary
Reporting to a Member of the Authority, this senior leadership role sits at the heart of the Corporate Enforcement Authority (CEA). The successful candidate will provide strategic legal advice, lead complex enforcement and litigation activity, and contribute to the development of a modern, high-performing regulatory body. Please note this is a Temporary Assignment of up to 12 months.

Key Responsibilities
Legal & Advisory
- Provide high-quality, timely legal advice across a broad range of areas including company, criminal, civil, administrative, constitutional, employment, data protection, and regulatory law.
- Advise on investigations, enforcement actions, and suspected misconduct under relevant legislation.
- Lead and contribute to litigation strategy, including civil and criminal proceedings, and represent the organisation as required.
- Support prosecutions, including preparing files for the Director of Public Prosecutions and assisting with trial processes.
- Oversee and manage civil litigation (e.g. judicial review, compliance orders, restriction/disqualification proceedings).
- Conduct legal research and contribute to legislative development and reform proposals.
- Manage external legal advisors and contribute to organisational policy and advocacy.
Leadership & Management
- Lead and develop a team of legal professionals.
- Contribute to organisational strategy, risk management, and operational delivery.
- Manage complex workloads, competing priorities, and multiple projects.
- Build strong relationships across a multidisciplinary environment and represent the organisation externally.
- Support staff development, organisational change, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with public sector obligations and governance standards.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Barrister or Solicitor in Ireland.
- Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience at an appropriate senior level.
- Strong specialist expertise in at least two of the following:
- Company law
- Criminal law/procedure
- Civil law/procedure
- Regulatory/enforcement law
- Administrative law

- Proven ability to deliver high-quality legal advice in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Experience handling complex legal matters and large volumes of information.
- Strong professional judgement and decision-making ability.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to operate credibly at senior level and contribute strategically.
- Strong understanding of public sector responsibilities and commitment to public interest.
