Role and purpose


• Provide technical support for the bus depots in relation to charging of electric vehicles electrical infrastructure, charger infrastructure and associated software, and the charging system on the buses, collectively the “system”. Review on a daily basis the performance of the system components and take corrective actions as required.

• Support Dublin Bus staff at the depots in terms of communications, feedback and training within areas of responsibility (electrical infrastructure, charging infrastructure and the charging system on the buses)

• Act as first-line of technical contact for the system external contractors and service providers. This would include utilities and contracted service providers.

• Provide support in relation to the management of Service Level Agreements (SLA) with 3rd-party providers as required.

• Provide input as required to the project delivery team for future phases of electrification at other Dublin Bus locations as part of a programme of continual service improvement.

• Work with other stakeholders to define changes required to the associated electrical, charging infrastructure and charge management systems

• Support and help manage minor and major incidents to full resolution in returning to business as usual in relation to electrical, charging infrastructure and charge management systems.

• Take responsibility for the RCCA (root cause correction action) process to ensure, working with other key stakeholders, that the root causes of incidents are eliminated.

•Provide remote fixes, isolate defective hardware and help ensure maximum availability of the charging infrastructure is available to the charging teams

•Deliver technical training (in-person or IT-based) to the depots in relation to the system use to ensure buses reach the required % of State of Charge

•Maintain and update system supporting documentation such as user guides, cheat sheets and knowledge articles

•Develop and own all processes associated with bus charging activities in conjunction with the Technical Office Manager and other key stakeholders such as the Senior Engineer and Technology Development Manager.

•Take responsibility for the Change Management Process for proposed changes to either the vehicles, the charging infrastructure or the charge management system.

•Comply with all relevant Data Protection legislation

•Comply with all Quality, Environmental, Energy, Sustainability, Health and Safety policies and procedures

•Foster good relationships with employees, trade union representatives and relevant personnel in other departments of Dublin Bus and CIÉ Group of Companies

•Create Standard Instructions as required and associated with the electrical, charging infrastructure and charge


Requirements


•Level 7 qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline and/or relevant trade qualification with suitable transferable experience in a relevant industry

•Experience with, and technical knowledge of, electric vehicle charging. This could be from the infrastructure side, charger side or vehicle side.

•Experience and/or knowledge of the various electric vehicle charging protocols that exist within the industry (e.g. OCPP and ISO 15118 including VDV protocols)

•Experience of working in a similar Service Delivery focussed role or environment within an organisation responsible for the provision of IT services to Medium or Large Enterprise’s, is desirable.

•Experience in managing contractors, vendors and Service Level Agreements

•Experience in running RCCA processes and change management processes

•Experience in software coding with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

•Experience in testing and debugging to ensure software quality and functionality, identify and resolve technical issues.

•A strong interest in electric vehicles and associated technology.

•Strong working knowledge of office 365 suite

•This role will require regular attendance at Dublin Bus sites and travel between the sites and your office location. Some out-of-hours coverage will also be required.

•Some international travel may be required from time to time for short durations (e.g. factory visits, training, conferences etc)

•Driving license and access to own transport.

•ITIL ITSM Foundation or Practitioner or equivalent qualification is desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue and achieve this within 12 months of commencement
